London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, the UK

LAMDA’s history can be traced back to 1861, making it the oldest drama school in the United Kingdom and one of the oldest in the world. Uniquely positioned as a world-class conservatoire in London, offering vocational training in acting, musical theatre, directing, and the technical arts, and an exams provider delivering to over 50 countries, LAMDA has built a reputation as a global leader in arts education.

With alumni including Benedict Cumberbatch, Ruth Wilson, David Oyelowo, Anna Maxwell Martin and John Lithgow, and the renowned Mischief Theatre Company, LAMDA graduates regularly appear on stage and screen with companies such as the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal National Theatre of Great Britain, Netflix and Apple TV, with our acting and technical graduates work being a near constant presence both in the West End and on Broadway.

In recent years, LAMDA has been recognised for the quality of its acting and technical training across a number of international media outlets, most notably the Guardian and Hollywood Reporter, and in 2024 expanded its provision to New York City, where it offers masterclasses, workshops and short courses from its Manhattan home. LAMDA is a proud and active member of networks such as Conservatoires UK and Guild HE, and most recently of the World Theatre Education Alliance.
