Department of Theatre, Chung Ang University, Republic of Korea

The Department of Theatre at Chung-Ang University was established in 1959 as the first four-year university-level theatre program in South Korea. It was also the first to introduce graduate programs (Master's and Doctorate) in the field. In addition to the acting and directing majors, the department launched a musical acting major in 2013 and a performance planning major in 2014, creating new platforms to nurture future talents. Since its foundation, numerous alumni have excelled in various fields including theatre, film, television, and musicals, playing a leading role in the development of Korean arts and culture. The department has upheld its reputation as one of the oldest and most prestigious theatre programs in South Korea.
