Bylaws of World Theatre Education Alliance
Article 1 The full name of the organization is World Theatre Education Alliance (hereinafter referred to as the Alliance), WTEA for short.
Article 2 WTEA is an independent international academic organization comprising multiple member schools. It aims at enhancing mutual learning and exchange among theatre schools worldwide, promoting the dialogues between different cultures, guarding cultural diversity and boosting the prosperity and development of theatre education.
Article 3 3.1 The Presidents’ Conference is the decision-making body of the Alliance. During the conference, propositions related to such important issues as projects, activities and developmental strategies shall be discussed and voted.
3.2 Each member school has one vote and any resolution requires two-thirds of votes in favour to be passed and be executed.
3.3 Attendees at the conference shall be, preferably, the heads of member schools or persons in charge. When the heads could not be present, they can authorize a representative, with a formally written letter, to attend the conference to vote.
3.4 The conference is convened by WTEA Secretariat every two years. Additional sessions could be held at proper time when necessary.
Article 4 The Secretariat of WTEA is set at the Central Academy of Drama, and the venues for administration, office supplies and consumables, staff salaries and so forth are paid by the Central Academy of Drama.
Article 5 Member schools could recommend individuals to act as Secretary-general; and the nominee with the highest votes will be elected. According to the Resolutions of the 5th Presidents’ Conference, since October 21, 2022, the tenure of Secretary-general has been extended from 2 years to 5.
Article 6 Founding member schools of WTEA refer to the 12 professional theatre schools that signed the Declaration of World Theatre Education Alliance on October 18th, 2016. Professional theatre schools joining in thereafter shall have the same rights and obligations.
